Keep your account and personal information
safe
Industrial Bank is committed to keeping your accounts safe
and secure. So, as an online banking customer you can rest
easy knowing that we are doing all we can to keep your account
information safe from criminals.
Protecting your account is a team effort and the information
we are providing you in this brochure will give you the tools
and recourses you need to keep your online banking transactions
secure.
Password Protection & Pin
Your password is secret and confidential; be sure
to keep it that way. Never give your password to anyone,
whether in person or over the phone.
When creating your password use a complex password with
at least eight characters; include
upper and lower case letters, numbers and symbols.
Multi-Factor Authentication
Multifactor authentication (MFA) is a security system Industrial
Bank uses for online banking that ensures your account stays
safe. It works by making sure there is more than one form
of authentication to verify that only the authorized user
is able to access account information.
Encryption
Your first line of defense in
preventing online ID Theft and Fraud on your accounts is
a strong password and PIN (Personal Identification Number).
Be sure not to share them with anyone as most frauds involving
hijacked accounts start with someone the victim knows.
Privacy Policies
The Industrial Bank privacy policies protecting your personal
information are stringent. Your confidential information is
treated with the utmost care, meeting or exceeding federal
and state mandates.
IDENTIFYING THE MOST COMMON ONLINE THREATS
Phishing - Phishers send an email or pop-up
message that claims to be from a business or organization
that you may deal with. The message may ask you to “update,” “validate,” or “confirm” your
account information. Some phishing emails threaten a dire
consequence if you don’t respond. The messages direct
you to a website that looks just like a legitimate organization’s
site. But it isn’t. It’s a bogus site whose sole
purpose is to trick you into divulging your personal information
so the operators can steal your identity and run up bills
or commit crimes in your name. Industrial Bank will
never ask you to give personal information through email
or from a random pop-up window while you are on the internet.
Pharming-This cyber crime intercepts internet
traffic and re-routes it to a fraudulent site. Once there,
the victim is asked to enter personal information, just as
with Phishing.
Malware - This is software designed to
infiltrate or damage a computer system without the owner’s
knowledge. Examples of Malware include Computer Viruses,
Worms, Trojan Horses, Spyware, and Adware.
